At least, I *think* it is a globular springtail. I didn't even see the little critter until I inadvertently focused one grass blade over from the leafhopper I was photographing at the time.

Notes from Frans Janssens: "Single eyes ('ocelli') of Collembola have no cuticular lens (as in many insects) but a spherical crystal deposit just below the transparent skin to concentrate the light into the optic sensilla underneath it. Due to the spherical shape of this crystal the eyes appear domelike from the outside."
