Gasteracantha Cancriformis Caught Weaving Her Web Kissimmee, Florida, Osceola County, Kissimmee, Florida County, Florida, USA December 31, 1969 Size: 1.4"
The spiney back spider had set her line in the center of the web and was running in a circular pattern attaching the line at specific points on her runner lines.

Taken with Sony Cyber Shot just after a rain. The spiney back was reconstructing her web.
The camera lens was 1/2 inch from her while she worked.

I found this beetle while hiking in the Organ Mountains of southern NM. It looks like a type of Buprestidae. Any suggestions on a scientific and common name for this pretty beetle? Thanks!

What's it's Name? Goshen, Orange County, New York, USA October 13, 2008 Size: Large Fly
Please help me identify this bettle thing. It's all over my house. i need to know more about him before I can figure out how to find him a better place. We all can't live at my house. It's invasive. All over my house during the day and then disappears at night. Too many? Help.

Is this a Chlosyne lacinia? Las Cruces, Dona Ana County, New Mexico, USA October 4, 2008
While on vacation in southern New Mexico last week I photographed several butterflies that were new to me. The closest match I can find to this butterfly in my field guide book is Chlosyne lacinia. Can someone verify that? Thanks!
