These insects are infesting tomatillo plants in a school garden. Would like to identify them so we can use it as a "teaching moment".

Tell your little students that these are likely Three-Lined Potato Beetles (Lema daturaphila). And that bugs have to eat too. :)

Lema yes...
but not sure what's been introduced to HI. Could be any one of several species that look like this.
