Maybe someone familiar with the local Quedius sp. can confirm if the id is the same as your European species.

 
Here'a a similar-sounding name
on the new Hampshire checklist: Quedius moloc*hinoides.

Quedius sp.
. . . one of the big species, from the nominate subgenus. Q.molochinus (brachypterous, also European, and probably introduced in N-Am.)looks just like this - but I do not know if there are native spp. with which it can be confused.
