Tiny Beetle -
Nitidula carnaria
Thompson Falls, Sanders County, Montana, USA
March 30, 2007
Size: around 2-3 mm
Found in the house on the wall. It's very small and looked black until the flash hit it. I'm guessing some kind of scarab?

after second vote for this sp. was given. The couloration on this image is typical, the specimen on the linked image darker as usual.

I found several V. Belov references on google,
some even associated with Coleoptera. Which one are you? Are you in the US, Russia? A line or two about yourself on your personal page (just click on your name) would be most welcomed.

Yes
it does look very similar to
your link
. The only difference I see is that my beetle seems to have lighter colored legs, but that could be because of the flash.

You may move it to family now!
Because for sure it is a Nitidulid.
Reminds very much of Nitidula carnaria - but I´m not sure whether some N-American species may come close in appearance.
cheers, Boris

Ok, I'll just keep it at the basic level for now. I'll try to get some more shots today.

Borer?
An underside and/or side view would help greatly but this strikes me as a scoly*tine borer due to antennal balls, general shape and downturned head.

Not a scarab
Maybe a sap beetle (Nitidulidae).
