Sexton from Illinois - Nicrophorus orbicollis

Sexton from Illinois - Nicrophorus orbicollis
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
March 27, 2007
Found scurrying near the body of a poached deer in the forest preserve near my home.

Wow....
Must be an ambitious sexton beetle to think it could bury a whole deer:-) Go for it!

Oh . . .
. . . it had lots of help! A whole host of Oiceoptoma noveboracense were horning in on the party.
