Cimbicid - Abia

Cimbicid - Abia
fayetteville, washington County, Arkansas, USA
March 30, 2007
Size: ~15mm
i do not think these are of one individual... there were about 10, males i believe, chasing each other about, and there was no way to keep up with who was who... that being said i can unlink them if needed.

looks close to Z. americana, but i have not been able to find descriptions or pictures of kennicotti or inflatus (Z. lonicerae ruled out).

Abia sp.
Not kennicotti or inflata. Could be americana or lonicerae. All pictures look the same.

Nice job!
Nice series of a seldom-seen insect! Keep up the great work.

honeysuckle
i feel pretty good about calling the honeysuckle Lonicera sempervirens... for what that is worth.

sawfly
they were a hoot to watch.
