Which white? - Pontia protodice

Which white? - Pontia protodice
Saguaro NP, Arizona, USA
March 13, 2007
Either a Pontia protodice or P. sisymbrii. Not familiar with the species.

This is a Checkered White
Pontia protodice. Winter individuals tend to run small with stronger patterning. I don't believe that P. sisybrii can be found so low as Saguaro NP, but could be mistaken. Generally it is a butterfly of the western mountains where winters are cold.

Moved from Spring White.

Spring White, Pontia sisymbrii
Looks like the one in Butterflies through Binoculars The West, only yours is better. I don't know these guys, but do know P. protodice, and this isn't that.
