Platycerus quercus - male

Platycerus quercus - Male
Parkwood, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
April 1, 2007
Size: 11 mm
Found on Dogwood (Cornus florida) blossom by a young budding entomologist. (I was standing right next to it and did not notice it!) Captured and posed, length measured--the white flecks are pollen, apparently from the Dogwood.
Dillon and Dillon (1) say they sometimes visit flowers.
