What kind of spider is this? Wolf Spider? - Hogna
Greenville/Simpsonville, Greenville area/upsate South Carolina County, South Carolina, USA
October 21, 2014
Size: about quarter sized
I found this in my house today. I thought it was a wolf spider because it was hairy like a wolf spider and sort of the same color, the legs were thick and hairy and had a design on then, but not the normal wolf spider stripes. Overall it just didn't quite seem to have the same markings of the wolf spiders I usually see around here and its abdomen was a little reddish-brown, as you can see in the pic instead of the same color as its body. By its size I'd bet it was an adult, I would guess about quarter sized. It was indoors and was pretty docile, not aggressive or anything.

Moved from ID Request.
Possibly Hogna baltimoriana, not certain from this image though.

Tigrosa
aspersa (maybe georgicola

Wolf Spider
You're correct it is a wolf spider. Maybe Laura can tell you more about the genus or species.
