There's no blood here... - Culiseta inornata - Female
Ames, Story County, Iowa, USA
April 2, 2007
Size: 10 mm or so
Came to the deer carcass 3 seperate time while I photographed... I'm not sure what it was doing exactly... it certainly seemed to be probing it as if it was looking for food; payed no attention to biting me... I'm rather curious if anyone can give me more info on the behavior and a possible ID

I can't even tell Culex or Culiseta. I need to see a clear lateral shot of either the thorax or a dorsal shot of one of the wings.

What camera do you use?

I added some more shots... ho
I added some more shots... hope that helps...

curious: do you know why she would be probing around a decayed deer carcass? I can't imagine she could gain much nutrition from skin, fur and bones
