Yes I think you are right that this is a Small Mocis - Hodges#8743 (Mocis latipes) rather than a Texas Mocis (M. texana). The image below clearly shows the distinctive black-outlined hollow subreniform spot:


The FW your worn moth does show the round black outline of the subreniform spot, albeit faintly, on both sides. More visible to me on the right side.

 
Thanks for the "endorsement."
I sometimes feel that I owe it to my moth visitors to get them identified, especially if they are "old and worn out."
Plus I like to see them come back year after year, sometimes even
on the same date.
My contributions to BG are getting so numerous that I can't remember what I have posted, so when an individual of a given species returns, I photograph it, then find that I don't need to post it again.
