Braconidae? - Polystenidea - female

Braconidae? - Polystenidea - Female
Fishkill, Dutchess County, New York, USA
September 19, 2014
Size: ca. 2mm
Captured by vacuuming in apple tree.

This is a nice find.
Polystenidea is a small genus with only 2 described New World species. From what I've seen, they're not commonly collected. Thanks for posting this find.

Thanks Joseph
Interesting to hear, I have many apple orchard wasps to go through, we shall see if more of these show up.

Conrad.

I forgot to mention
that there are host records for Polystenidea on micro-moths in family Lyonetiidae. Among the lyonetiids are some that leaf mine in apple leaves. You will probably find other interesting tiny parasitic wasps in those apple trees.

Thanks.
Thanks Bob, I'm new to wasp ID'ing and am just trying to get a handle on families. I appreciate the 'homework' checking.
