Celestrina ladon - Celastrina echo

Celestrina ladon - Celastrina echo
Mill Creek Summit area, ~5000 ft. altitude, San Gabriel Mountains, Los Angeles County, California, USA
April 2, 2007
In Mixed Chaparral (CNPS:Chaparral whitethorn series). Perched on Adenostoma fasciculatum (Chamise, currently not in flower), but watched some Spring Azures sipping nectar in nearby Skunkbrush (Rhus trilobata).
Marginal note: after coming out of the chamise my head and clothes were full of carpenter ants (hadn't noticed them while photographing), and I found a dog tick crawling up my pants.

Moved
Moved from Echo Azure.

Moved
Moved from Spring Azure. The "Spring" Azure complex has been split into multiple species. CA azures are currently classified as Echo Azure, Celastrina echo.

Thanks, Nick,
for the update.
