Identification
Similar to L. virginica, having all yellow "beard". Legs are a hairy yellow, black in L. virginica.

Eastern North America. Reported from New York, North Carolina.

Predatory on other insects.
Remarks
The Laphria photographed by Lynette Schimming in Cumberland County, North Carolina looks very distinctive, esp. yellow leg hair and the early flight season. I'm going to file it as Laphria cf. (compare) cinerea based on the Laprhini pages (see Internet references) and phenology.
