Monkey Slug - Phobetron pithecium

Monkey Slug - Phobetron pithecium
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
September 24, 2004
It was great fun to find one of these. I also found some galls that were on the same leaves that strangley resembled this caterpillar. At first I thought they were young caterpillars...they are the hairiest galls I've ever seen.

Agreed
I love finding these as well. They are surprisingly small. I always imagined they were bigger.

Caterpillars have been my favorite subject for awhile, and among caterpillars I really like the slug caterpillars.
