Prospect Park, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, USA
July 13, 2013
Another sap beetle?

Moved tentatively based on the following pers.comm...
...from Andrew Cline: "This looks like C. strigatula, but the fasciate Cryptarcha are very difficult to id without seeing the prosternal process. The elytral markings and setation patterns can be very similar in these species, so my "C. strigatula" is a best guess of the species and should not be considered 100%. Sorry I can't be more precise, but some of these guys I just need to see the underside."

Moved from Cryptarcha.

yeah unusually pale
Moved from Beetles.

Cryptarcha was my favored ID too

yup, a sappy day for you...
maybe a Cryptarcha sp...having trouble placing this one.
