Bombus Who? - Bombus melanopygus

Bombus Who? - Bombus melanopygus
Fullerton Arboretum, Fullerton, Orange County, California, USA
April 9, 2007
I visit this site often, but am now seeing many types of bees here for the first time. I wonder if it's our exceptionally dry conditions, which might make bees go farther for food. (Any thoughts on this? There isn't a lot blooming.)

While two kinds of carpen*ter bees frequent the site, I've seen three different Bombus spp. in the last couple of weeks. There are also many small bees that I haven't noticed previously.
