Fishing nets used for larger insects

I have had very good success with small holed Fishing nets( 20 to 30 inch diameters) with longer handles and handle extensions for Beetles and Fast Large Lepidoptera once they are warmed up . 12 and 15 inch diameter nets with 4 foot handles don't cut it with some speciman s and you never have a chance. Cheaper than commercial big and tall nets , the fishing nets work very well and they are light and some extendable too !! Thoughts ? Gene St. Denis

I have
had good luck with large or medium sized aquarium nets 4x6 or so, to catch flies, bees and wasp in. They work well also beetles, insects on the ground or on a flat surface. It is easy to see what you have and where the critter is to corner it to slip a container over whatever I have caught.
