Tiny Black Velvet Fly

Tiny Black Velvet Fly
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA
April 11, 2007
Size: 3mm or a little less
These pictures are not perfect, clear, or detailed, but they are the only ones I was able to get of this little fly.
It was very active, quickly walking around on the leaf of English (Cherry) Laurel. There were lots of native (And*rena?) Be*es sunning themselves. I waded through all of the Diptera images here on the guide, and the closest I can come are: either Platy*pezid*ae or Pha*sia. Of course, it could be something completely different.
