The moth is sitting on a goldenrod. I took the photo just before sunset in the river valley. Am I correct in thinking this moth has no mouth parts?

I would agree it is most likely P. robiniae (western poplar borer).

Sorry for the lack of responses...
I suspect that the angle makes for a challenging ID. My guess (and it is just that) would be something like the Western Poplar Clearwing:
