H. pallidus Say 1823: 4.5-6.9 mm; common from New England west to so. AB & e. AZ; except for several PA records, not known to occur southeast of the Ohio River

H. schwarzi Horn 1890: 3.0-3.7 mm; from ne US to n TX-MS; QC-ON(1)

H. selanderi Pacheco 1969: 2.6-2.8 mm; FL to extreme so.GA & so.MS

Identification

medium-sized, more or less reddish with highly variable elytra markings. (Miller 1988b)
