Moved from Tetrix.

Paratettix cuculatus
-

Tetrigidae, perhaps Tetrix
A pygmy grasshopper, likely a Tetrix, compare such images as:

Note the flat upper surface of the pronotum, the squared-off front edge of same--these are consistent with Tetrix in the one key I've seen, Helfer (1), but this is a tough group.

Thanks
Patrick. What should I do with the images? Frass or move to page? If page, which one?

Likely Tetrix
That key in Helfer is pretty extensive, and this looks consistent with Tetrix to me, so I'd say put it under that genus, at least. (I think it may be T. arenosa, even.)

I'm of the opinion that reasonable identifications should be made based on available evidence--nobody is taking BugGuide for an authoritative key, and we will never make progress if we fear making mistakes too much. This discussion serves as documentation on how the ID was made. The great thing about the site is that some expert can come in later and correct any errors.

Great
Thanks.
