In my house... - Duponchelia fovealis - Female
Huntsville, Texas, Texas, USA
January 22, 2015
Size: 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
At first I was thinking it is the Indian meal moth, but it does not look like any of the photos I've seen. I then was thinking they came in with the plants I brought inside for the winter. Also they do not act like moths in the fact they are not attracted to lights that are on at night. I have about 4 ..that I've seen..

European pepper moth
Yes indeed. After looking at the information of this moth, I now know that this is what I have in my house. I believe it to be transferred from one of 2 poinsettias that I purchased at our local super store. And I have just recently cut these plants down to store, so this is my best guess of how they made it into my house. Now here is my question... Do I exterminate or gather and take outdoors?

The Official Pest Report link
The Official Pest Report link on the Info Page for the European Pepper Moth http://www.pestalert.org/oprDetail.cfm?oprID=466 indicates it is not very cold tolerant and mainly a greenhouse pest. So I would just take them outdoors and let the cool air take care of them.

But others my have more to say.

Thank you
Thank you for the link Nancy
