Meloidae - Blister Beetle - Meloe niger
Mendocino County, California, USA
April 16, 2007
Size: about one and a half inch
It was eating California Buttercups and was the largest of several specimens found - fatter and longer - a female, perhaps?

Thank you. That does fit all the other shots here of the Blister Beetle - would this one be a female?

Probably.
Most of the males in Meloe have highly-modified antennae resulting in a "kinked" or "knotty" appearance.
