Calligrapha cephalanthi (Schwarz) --det. S.M. Clark
his comment: "This is a very interesting and seldom encountered species, endemic to Florida."

my comment: yaaay! suspected and hoped so. thanks for the great addition to the Guide, Justin --keep them coming!

Awesome! Thank you!
Wow! You all work quick! Thank you so much for your time and efforts! I really appreciate the identification. You are helping us create an inventory to act as a historical benchmark for our Sawmill Slough Preserve, University of North Florida. I suspected Calligrapha sp. but was at a loss from there. I'm very glad to have contributed to the wonderful bugguide archive. Considering the seldom encounters with this species I feel more lucky to have been in it's presence. Hopefully her eggs/offspring survive so we can encounter them more.

Mike Thomas says, "Neat! We have only one specimen and I've seen one other that John Watts collected, also in Duval County as I recall. Supposed to be associated with button bush but I've swept button bush to exhaustion and never collected it."
[for many years, and until his recent retirement, Dr Thomas managed Florida State Collection of Arthropods]

you're so right to feel lucky, Justin -- while the rest of us are right to feel envious...

intriguing... will show around
Fla has several endemic spp. in this tribe, and this might be one of those Calligraphae; i don't remember seeing this kind before
