Is this Conophorus fenestratus?
Fly was a bit lethargic when I found it.

Hi Joyce. I was trying to key a Conophorus post of mine (in reference to a CalPhotos post)) and ran into yours here.

Using Hall & Evenhuis(1) this goes fairly clearly to C. fenestratus, the only other alernative being C. limbatus, which is rare and has recorded range from western Texas and New Mexico. The dark wing markings here are somewhat "shrunken" compared to the reference diagram in Hall & Evenhuis...but their pattern is nevertheless consistent with that shown for C. fenestratus.

thanks Aaron!
Good to have a species on this one.
