Size: ~45mm
Found this guy under a log on the side of the trail from Skyline Trail to Chimney Rock. Identified by spines on segment of terminal legs. Could someone add this to its own species page please? I'm not quite sure how.

With the spines on the prefem
With the spines on the prefemora (1st segments) of the caudal legs, which you can see in the photo, this is Theatops spinicaudus (Wood, 1862). It occurs widely in NC but is most common in the western 1/3 of the state. Theatops posticus (Say, 1821) also occurs across NC but is more common in the eastern half of the state; it lacks these spines.Rowland Shelley, North Carolina State Museum of natural Sciences.
