Winged Barklouse with mottled brown & beige patterned wings; walking on ceiling - Loensia moesta
Torrance, Los Angeles County, California, USA
September 24, 2014
Size: ~~ 2 mm (rough estimate)
Came indoors, attracted to light bulb.

It looks like it could belong in genus Loensia, and it resembles L. moesta quite well, but not its (known) range ...

Loensia sp., probably L. moesta (Hagen) --det E.L. Mockford

Thanks a lot, =V= & Dr. Mockford !!
Highly appreciated, to get an identification by the father of Psocology himself; enabled by =V=, our BG-guru !

This one could be.. Loensia maculosa
This species has a dark spot at the M + Cu1 split. According to Mockford (1)the range is : "Pacific Coastal states from Riverside County, California north to King County, Washington".

Thanks, Diane !
I concur that it could be L. Maculosa.
They all appear to have a fair amount of variation of wing pattern coloration.
L. Maculosa's range certainly matches better.
It would imply a small (south)western range extension.

Thanks for working on this fascinating, but understudied, group.
I love your photos.
