Water Scavenger Beetle - Hydrochara obtusata

Water Scavenger Beetle - Hydrochara obtusata
Guelph, Wellington, Ontario, Canada
April 20, 2007
Size: 17 mm
Here it is again, flipped over. The sternal keel is clearly visible, as is the spine arrangement on the middle right leg.

Moved
Moved from Hydrochara.

The carina
on the metasternal keel suggests H. obtusata.

Other
Would this also be H. obtusata? There seems to be some sort of carina on the metasternal keel. Specimen was from the same swamp, too. Just larger.

Key
Yes, obtusata was what I arrived at using the key Review of the family Hydrophilidae of Canada and Alaska (Coleoptera) (Smetana, 1988; Great Lakes Entomologist 28 (2), pp. 97-126). I just wasn't sure enough to arrive at a conclusion.
