Eupatorium Borer Moth - Carmenta bassiformis - Female
Near Ruraldale, Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
August 20, 2006
I believe this is a female Carmenta bassiformis. It was resting on a huge squash plant, but there were plenty of the larval food plants (Ironweed and Joe Pye Weed) nearby.
