Ok, so you figured that out, too:-) I suspect this is one of the hacklemesh weavers, family Amaurobiidae. They get pretty large and intimidating.

It sure does look like one of those. It was large and well-this one scared me! I'm going to hunt him down again and see if I can get a better photo-my hands were shaking!
