Shadow Darner? - Basiaeschna janata

Shadow Darner? - Basiaeschna janata
edge of a narrow pine area bordering an open field, Iredell County, North Carolina, USA
April 23, 2007
Size: 3 inches maybe?
I am inclined to believe this is a shadow darner, but I'm really not sure. My id skills aren't the best. I photographed him/her in the cool of the morning and he/she wasn't willing to sit for long. It was smaller than a common green darner, but still larger than some of the baskettails and misc clubtails around here.

Moved
Moved from Shadow Darner. All you need to do is click on TAG and the image will appear on the upper left of your screen. Then go to the new page where you want it and click on IMAGES. You should get a tab for move tagged image. Click on that and Presto! you're done. You can get more info by clicking on the HELP tab above. It takes a little while to learn the movements, but we think you'll find they are quite nice! Nice Image!

Thank you!
Thanks for the help! :)

Springtime Darner
Way too early for Shadow Darner. The season and the brown at the base of the wings should make it Springtime Darner (Basiaeschna janata).

Thanks!
Thanks for the id correction! :) I've never seen any of these guys around here before, so it's a new one for me. I'd move this to the correct spot, but I'm not sure how.
