Most of the festina images in the Guide...
...show green legs. Could this be lutea?

I don't pretend to know; I'm just wondering.

Ceresa lutea ot festina
Hi, Ken - Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'm "just wondering" now too! I was ready fully to agree that it was lutea, but then I found that Andy Hamilton, who was the one who had noted the "dark legs" criteria, had made a festina ID on a quite obviously dark legged specimen (photos 788812, 788816). So it all has gotten out of my league, and for now I'll demote this one to Buffalo Treehoppers (Ceresa). There it can stay until when or if any of the major leaguers want to duke it out over a better ID.

Sounds like a plan :)
I've seen some seemingly contradictory hopper IDs, too--enough to leave me wary of the entire group.
