Xyloryctes jamaicensis - Rhinoceros Beetle - Xyloryctes jamaicensis - Male
Mancelona, Antrim County, Michigan, USA
August 10, 2006
Size: 27mm (1.1 in.)
Since I was a little kid I have wanted to find one of the rhinoceros beetles (Subfamily Dynastinae). This was the first one I have found. I found two over the summer of 2006 in Michigan. It was a wonderful creature to observe and to hold. The power of the little creatures is amazing.
