Chimney Bee Mouthparts & Body - Diadasia - female

Chimney Bee Mouthparts & Body - Diadasia - Female
Tonopah Desert, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
April 4, 2015
Size: 12mm
This bee is in a Prickly Pear Cactus, Opuntia Engelmannii. This is likely a female in the Diadasia australis species group. This is an extended series of her from several angles. The 4mm long Labium, striped Maxillae and other parts of her body are included with some good wing details. The last shot shows her with what I think is another female, with bare hind legs. (rear is slightly darker, with sharp edges)
