Live Oak Tussock Moth, Individual 2 - Orgyia detrita - male

Live Oak Tussock Moth, Individual 2 - Orgyia detrita - Male
Hernando, Citrus County, Florida, USA
April 26, 2007
Size: approx. 2 cm long
Photographed with flash around 2 PM on the inside wall of our community theater. This is a different individual than but the same species as a moth I'd photographed on the theater's outer wall. Individual 1 is here.

Since these are two different individuals, I'm not linking the photos. If I should link them, please let me know. (Thanks.)

8313 -- Live Oak Tussock Moth -- Orgyia detrita
I'm glad you had the second individual's photo because I easily misidentified this one at first as a White-marked Tussock Moth. These are in the family Lymantriidae and there are several species, all easily confused, in your area.

Orgyia detrita
Thanks!
