Almost there! A few more days and we should get some adults. Here, the pupa is surrounded by copepods. These crustaceans have a single, red eyespot, earning them the genus/common name Cycl*ops.

Turns out it was a male,
but he was not very cooperative during the photography session so I lost him. A large bunch of larvae expired for no apparent reason. The rest died at the last instar stage, probably because of the water fouling (as a result of overcrowding - now, why didn't I think of that?)
Sorry I have no results this time. It's my first focused effort on rearing Culicids, since I wasn't really interested in these flies until I came to BugGuide. But, I'll surely return to the swamp before it dries by mid-summer and this time, I'll know to rear them better.

Sorry, that was the date of collecting
I forgot to change it. It's changed now to the date of pupation. Sorry for the confusion...
