Cantharid? - Ditemnus - female

Cantharid? - Ditemnus - Female
Ames, Story County, Iowa, USA
April 28, 2007
Size: 5 mm
I found this gentleman near my screen door whilst I was spring cleaning... I haven't had a chance to ID this one yet... looks to be cantharid-esque... but the elytra are rather short and flimsy... doesn't seem like one I'm familiar with... suggestions as to what this might be?... Silis or Ditemnus maybe?

Yes.
There's at least one in the guide. The sawtooth effect on the abdominal edge is diagnostic for the genus. I think this may be a female. See comments on this page.
