Lasioglossum - female

Lasioglossum - Female
Tucson, Reid Park Zoo, Pima County, Arizona, USA
April 23, 2015
Size: 4mm
THis bee sat on a leaf and kept sticking its glossa out and pulling it back in. This behavior went on for several minutes. Any ideas on what this bee was doing?

Irritant?
Just a guess but probably something was irritating it - perhaps a grain of pollen or something.

This female is evaporating excess water
to concentrate nectar.

Interesting
I had no idea they had such a behavior for that purpose.
