Size: about 2.2 mm
This is one of at least two thrips species found so far among thousands arthropods by pawing and sifting through flotsam from a substantially swollen catchment basin after several days of heavy, non-stop rain. I've never seen one with this color pattern or with such a wide, flattened abdomen.
