Tiny Orange Fly

Tiny Orange Fly
Brandywine, Prince George's County, Maryland, USA
April 29, 2007
Size: about 3 mm
This little fellow was hanging out in the underbrush, mixed hardwood area.

Platy

It is clearly not a Pipunculi

I have never seen an orange o
I have never seen an orange one... Sometimes they have withe or yellowish markings but nor orange and the eyes are bigger and nearly always sphaerical.. It is more a gestalt thing and there is still the chance that I might be wrong...

pipunculid? platypezid?

Thanks
Thanks for giving it a try, Joe!
