Bee Fly - Bombylius major

Bee Fly - Bombylius major
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA
April 29, 2007
Size: 10mm
The markings on the wings are like B. major, but this one was a bit smaller than the one I photographed yesterday. Is this some kind of sexual dimorphism? The eyes seem larger and cover more of the head than the one yesterday, also.

Moved
Moved from Bee Flies.

B. major
This is a male. In many bombyliids, the males are holoptic, with the eyes touching at the top of the head.
