Big Inch Worm

Big Inch Worm
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA
April 29, 2007
Size: approx 13mm
Found dropping out of English Holly (branches intermingle with Western Hemlock), on silk. I'm not familiar with any "Looper" type caterpillars that eat Holly. Perhaps something that actually came out of my Hemlock?
It was very sluggish, so I assume it was getting ready to pupate?

Western Hemlock Looper
I think that this is a Western Hemlock Looper caterpillar, Lambdina fiscellaria

It was dropping out of my English Holly, which has it's branches intermingled with my Western Hemlock.

The second link is from the British Columbia conifer defoliating insects page of their National Resources site.
