Could be a larvae? - Pyractomena

Could be a larvae? - Pyractomena
Westmorland County Canada County, New Brunswick, Canada
December 31, 1969
Size: 2-3 cm
I found this on a four foot high, dead tree stump in mixed forest. It has a soft head that retreated inside it shell when I gently disturbed it. I didn't want to flip it over but 6 legs were visible. It reminds me of the Thorny Dragon lizard, a snail all mixed up into an insect. Please help me with identifying it!

Oh, thank you so much! That's amazing! I had no idea they look as so as larvae. I really appreciate that you know this!
