Egg case and eggs of Dysdera crocata - Dysdera crocata - female

Egg case and eggs of Dysdera crocata - Dysdera crocata - Female
Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, USA
May 20, 2015
This egg case was under a log in a courtyard garden of a row house in downtown Philadelphia. It consisted of a loose, thin outer layer enclosing a tough silk case. I pulled apart the case, exposing eggs and an adult Dysdera crocata that did not move, even after I poked it. After about a minute, it moved one leg, and then crawled away.
