Wasp on copper wire - Polistes annularis - female

Wasp on copper wire - Polistes annularis - Female
Washington Parish, Louisiana, USA
April 6, 2007
Size: About 30MM long
I'd like to contribute, but I'm no naturalist and have no idea where to put most of the stuff I take pictures of. Can someone identify this wasp for me?
The picture was taken on an unseasonably cold day, and I found it on a copper wire in my shop. These are common around here.

Thanks, will the mods move it
Thanks, will the mods move it to the proper location? Or is that something that I can do?

Yep, you can move them.
Check the Help tab for details. (I wasn't sure what you meant by mods, but if you don't move your post, eventually an editor will. But they have lots of other things to do.

"Where to put most of the stuff"
You've found the perfect place - ID Request. Welcome to Bug Guide, and I hope to see more of y our fine images. (Tip: Check the Help tab for info on how to use the site. Believe it or not, it took a couple of months for me to find it.)

Paper wasp.
This is a female paper wasp, Polistes annularis. Nice shots! We don't have many images of this species, so feel free to fire away:-)
