Beetle from North Bass Island, Ohio - Odontotaenius disjunctus

Beetle from North Bass Island, Ohio - Odontotaenius disjunctus
North Bass Island, Ottawa County, Ohio, USA
May 3, 2007
This beetle seemed to be sunning itself on a 60 degree, windy and clear day on North Bass Island. It was sitting on a dry and decomposed fallen log. I completely new to insects. I have a blog where I have posted the photo, and would love to know what species this is so I can further embellish the blog post! http://hiramtom.blogspot.com Thank you.

Odontotaenius disjunctus... o
Odontotaenius disjunctus... one of the more social beetles

Family
Passalidae I believe, a Bess Beetle
