Passalidae? - Anisodactylus sanctaecrucis

Passalidae? - Anisodactylus sanctaecrucis
Story County, Iowa, USA
June 6, 2015
Size: Appx. 1 centimeter long
I immediately thought Passalidae (The insect I am searching for.) However, after housing it for several days, along with several other identical individuals, I realized they are not stridulating, and any Passalidae being housed for several days ought to have made noise by now. I believe it is not yet mature, as it is partially orange, so I marked it as "Adult, Immature".

Moved tentatively; it's an adult beetle, a typical carabid
Moved from ID Request.

passalids look very different and are, among other things, uniformly dark brown to black, incl.appendages
the only passalid species that may occur in your area looks like this:

an immature one looks like this:

Hmm
The pale margins of the pronotum remind me more of Anisodactylus discoideus, based off of other submissions. I am not very aquainted with the group, though, so a second opinion would be great.

Wow!
I was quite off! Thank you for your help.
