Rhinoceros Beetle - Phileurus valgus

Rhinoceros Beetle - Phileurus valgus
Sand Springs, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA
May 5, 2007
Size: 1"-1 1/4"
Just so that everyone knows what they look like, this is an alien from space from a far away galaxy.
I'm not sure what's been going on the last couple of days but all the freaks have come out to play. Between Saturday and Sunday there were 93 (that's right boys and girls, I said NINETY THREE!) reported tornadoes in Oklahoma and Kansas and we're in a watch again today. Does the atmospheric pressure have anything to do with them showing up or moving around ? With all the weird ones I've posted today and the others I'm going to post I think I would say it does. Maybe they're all trying to get out of the state!
Please help with ID.

Why are some of my posts being IDed and I'm not getting email notices or comments ?
If an ID is made I would like to know so that I can update my records and basically just know what it is.
Is there any way to notify contributors automatically when a critter gets put in the guide regardless of whether there are comments or not ?

There is an automatic comment
and notification for all moves in the guide -- except this one! If an image is moved from ID Request to the guide without the editor making a comment, then no comment and no notification is generated. We think that decision was made as we recall because John VanDyk thought it unnecessary to make a comment on moves from ID Request since all images eventually get moved out of ID Request. We tend to avoid this problem by usually posting our images deeper in the guide. For example, if it is a fly, we post to the diptera page. Then if someone moves it we get a message. That's not always the best solution, but it is one of the small quirks we have learned to live with. Wish we had a better answer.

Ok. I kind of thought something like that might be the case. I appreciate your response.

By the way, can anyone answer the question I had asked above in the initial post ?
